HEAD COACH
This will be Gary's first year as head coach of the Aztecs. Gary Bowers is a 1997 graduate of Esperanza High School where he played offensive line for the Aztecs and was an all Sunset League center in '96 along with being the team’s Offensive Lineman of the Year. After high school he went on the play at Fullerton College where he was a two year starter. His sophomore year he was an All Mission Conference center and the team’s Offensive Lineman of the Year. He received a scholarship to Tarleton State University in Texas where he helped turn the program around to win the school’s first ever Lone star Conference Championship and make its first trip to the national playoffs. After graduation he returned to California and began his coaching career at El Dorado High School from 2004-2008 where helped turn the program around winning four straight league titles and Back to Back C.I.F. Championships in '06 and '07 as the offensive line coach. From 2009-2011 he coached at Los Alamitos High School helping the team with the win the 2010 Sunset League championship. The 2012 season was spent at Fullerton College where he helped the Hornets win the Conference championship. His offensive line paved the way to an average of 173 yards rushing per game. Gary has been a teacher at Los Alamitos High School for seven years and was also the head freshman wrestling coach for the past three seasons. He has been married to Katie Bowers who is the head El Dorado Cheerleading coach for 4 years and they are expecting their first child in August.

WIDE RECEIVERS
This will be Jack's 11th season coaching with the Aztecs. He coaches the wide receivers and helps with the offensive spotting from the pressbox. Jack attended UCSB where he ran track. Jack also coaches track. He is the offensive coordinator for the JV team. He and his wife, Kathy live in Yorba Linda. They have two sons, Sean, 23, a captain on the 2008 football team, and Todd, 21 a captain on the 2009 team.
LINEBACKERS
Tony was a linebbacker on the 1996 and 1997 Sunset League Champion teams. He also played baseball at Esperanza. He went on to play linebacker at Colorado State University. He works in Orange County in real estate. This will be his fourth year coaching the Aztecs linebackers and he will supervise the Aztec's special teams this year. He and his wife live in Yorba Linda.
OFFENSIVE LINE
This will be Coach Snyder's first year with the Aztecs. He coached 5 years as an Offensive Line Coach at Los Alamitos after playing there. He has also coached Linebackers and Tightends helping them win the 2010 league championship. Coach Snyder was the Junior Varsity Head Coach for three years, Coach Snyder lives in Long Beach. He played on the offensive line throughout his high school years.
DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR
Tommy was an All League linebacker and running back on the 2001 and 2002 Aztec football teams. He also played at Santa Ana Junior College and at Humboldt State. He was also a shot putter and discus thrower on the track team and an outstanding weightlifter. He is working on his teaching credential. This will be his sixth season coaching the Aztecs. He lives in Yorba Linda.
OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR
This will be Coach Howry's first year with the Aztecs. Keenan was an All-State Wide Receiver for Los Alamitos from 1995-1999, which he followed by having a great career at the University of Oregon where he garnered All Pac-10 twice and All-American honors setting several receiving and kick return records. Following his years at Oregon, Keenan was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings where he played for three years and the Seattle Seahawks for one year. Keenan graduated from the University of Oregon where he received his degree in Psychology. He currently resides in Carson and works as a personal trainer in Long Beach.
This will be Bill's 38th season at Esperanza coaching and teaching English. He was Def. Coordinator for 18 years and Head Coach from 2003-2008 finishing with a 53 - 20 record, winning four straight Sunset League championships, and having the 2005 team advancing to the CIF Division 1 Finals for the first time in school history. At Gahr High School he was Athlete of the Year. At Idaho State Un. where he played football, he was Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the school and for the Big Sky Conference. He coaches the weightmen in track and has coached a national champion, 2 state champions and 16 CIF champions. He and his wife Debbie live in Yorba Linda. His family includes sons, Travis and Jake, and daughter, Carolyn.
JV LINE AND VIDEO
Mike was a starting Guard and Tackle on the 2008 Sunset League Champions. He graduated from Esperanza in 2009. He coached the frosh teams for 3 years. This will be his second year coaching the varsity Aztecs. Mike also works with the video taping and scouting for the Aztecs. He has made many highlight videos for the athletic teams. Mike is working on his degree at Cal. State Fullerton.





RUNNING BACKS AND KICKERS
This will be Vodak's third year working with the Kickers and his first year as Running Backs Coach. Vodak is a 1979 graduate of Sonora High School where he played Full Back/Kicker. Vodak also ran track and was All Valley Oak League Champion his Junior and Senior Years. Vodak attended Pacific Christian College after high school where he met his wife Jodie of 32 years. After College Vodak played Semi-Professional Football and signed professional contracts with a few NFL and USFL teams in the early 80's. Vodak is the owner of Fanatics Athletic Club in Yorba Linda for the past 20 years and has been involved with the Aztec Men's Soccer Program Since 2000. He has worked as an assistant Head Coach for both the Boys and Girls Soccer Program both of which won CIF Titles. He has also recently worked as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Aztec Men's Basketball Team. Vodak is the proud father of three incredible children who were all graduates of Esperanza High School. Cassandra (2000) is now a Santa Ana Police Officer. Conan (2005) is now the Head Men's Varsity Soccer Coach here at Esperanza and Kyle (2007) is a Personal Trainer and Conditioning Coach for Fanatics Athletic Club.
Alan was a Tightend on the 2005 Sunset League champion team that advanced to the CIF Division 1 Finals. He has coached freshman and has coached 3 years on the varsity.
